Scotty Nguyen on the Black Friday in poker
Thuesday, 03 May 2011
Day 1 of the 2011 WSOP Circuit $1,500 Main Event just kicked off at the Caesar’s Palace and many players now nurture their dreams of winning a seat in the WSOP Main Event to be played in Las Vegas in summer. Many well-known faces turned out among the total of about 500 players who have registered so far. Scotty Nguyen found time during a break to talk to a TV reporter and used the opportunity to express his opinion on reverberations the Black Friday will have on poker. In his view, the crackdown on the biggest online poker sites will drag many players out of their rooms since many of them make their living by playing poker and cannot afford to stay off the game for a longer period of time. According to Nguyen, this might also bring back a middle-class type of live tournaments, since, as he indicated, live tournaments are currently just extreme in terms of money – either too little or too big. Whether this all will come true, remains to be seen.
